Description

A delicious dish made with grape leaves stuffed with a flavorful mixture of meat and rice.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 jar grape leaves, drained
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 3 cups water or chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Rinse rice and place it in a bowl with the ground beef, chopped onion, olive oil, salt, pepper, and cumin. Mix well.
  2. Lay out grape leaves, shiny side down, and place a spoonful of the mixture at the base of each leaf. Fold the sides in over the filling and roll tightly.
  3. Place the stuffed grape leaves seam side down in a pot. Pour lemon juice and water or chicken broth over them.
  4. Cover and cook on low heat for about 1 hour.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with yogurt or a side salad for a refreshing complement.
  • You can substitute ground beef with lamb for a different flavor.
