- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup erythritol or other sugar substitute
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
- ¾ cup egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and erythritol.
- Add applesauce, almond milk, egg whites, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost with your favorite sugar-free frosting if desired.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
- For a richer chocolate flavor, add a bit of coffee to the batter.
