- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon beef tallow
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons sweetener (optional)
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and sweetener until well combined.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and beef tallow until warm but not boiling.
- Slowly pour the warm cream mixture into the egg yolks, whisking continuously, then add vanilla and salt.
- Pour the mixture into ramekins and place them in a baking dish filled with hot water.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until set.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- This custard can be flavored with different extracts or spices, depending on preference.
- Serves well chilled after being stored in the refrigerator.
